How to Play Operactions
Operactions is a target-number and mental-math puzzle. Choose six numbers and combine them with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to reach the target exactly—or get as close as possible.
Choose six numbers
Each round starts with 24 hidden chips: two each of 1 through 10, plus one each of 25, 50, 75 and 100. Select six chips to reveal the numbers available for your calculation.
Reach the target
The target is a random number from 100 to 999. Each original number can be used once, while intermediate results can be used in later operations. Division must be exact.
Use a simple strategy
Build around the largest useful number first. Look for factors of the target, keep small numbers for corrections, and avoid spending a number when an intermediate result already gives you the same value.
Worked example
For a target of 952 with 100, 10, 6, 4, 3 and 2: subtract 4 from 100 to make 96, multiply by 10 to make 960, add 6 and 2 to make 8, then subtract 8 from 960 to reach 952 exactly. You do not need to use every number.
